POLICE and ambulance were called at 8am today (March 14) following the discovery of a man’s body in the canal at Tavistock.

The man was seen by a member of the public walking her dog near to Tavistock College.

A spokesperson from Devon and Cornwall Police said: ’The man was recovered from the water and he was pronounced deceased at the scene.

’A cordon is currently in place.’

The death is not being treated as suspicious at this time.

Next of kin not yet informed so no further details about the deceased at this time.
