A MAJOR charity walk aimed at those who love Dartmoor and the great outdoors is taking place on Saturday, September 14 — but be quick to register as the closing date is tomorrow (Friday, August 31).
Rise to the ‘11 Tors Challenge’ — the third one to be organised by Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team Tavistock — and help raise much needed funds for the charity.
There are two walks available, both starting and finishing at Princetown.
First is the 11 Tors Challenge Walk (starts 9.15am to 9.45am) which is the main route that covers around 11 miles and is reversed from previous years. It takes in South Hessary Tor, Hart Tor, Black Tor, Leeden Tor, Ingra Tor, King’s Tor, Foggintor, Little Mis Tor, Great Mis Tor, Rundlestone Tor and North Hessary Tor.
Alternatively, there is the Family Challenge Walk (starts 10.15am to 10.45am) which is around five miles and takes in Foggintor via the disused railway track, Rundlestone Tor and North Hessary Tor, and returning to Princetown.
The walks are open to everyone in teams of any size, although children under 18 years of age must be in a family group.
