GOLD sovereigns worth an estimated £16,000 have been stolen from the Tavistock home of a couple in their nineties.

The coins were taken from a safe in the couple’s home in sheltered accommodation some time between May 1 and July 19.

There were two cloth pouches, one containing 50 gold sovereigns and the other 50 half sovereigns.
