• POLICE are asking people to keep their dogs under close supervision as the weather warms up after an increase in incidents of dogs being out of control.
Police in West Devon said there had been an increase in reports of dogs attacking lambs, sheep, ponies and foals on the moors — several cases that have resulted in animal deaths.
They said there had also been reports of dogs attacking people, including an incident near Peter Tavy where a woman in her 70s was walking along a bridle path when she was suddenly surrounded by three farm dogs, one of which bit her on the leg.
Owners should keep their dogs on leads while around livestock on the moors and under supervision at all times.
