POLICE want to speak to a man following a second incident in the town where a woman has fallen victim to a trick where cash and cards were stolen out of a purse.

A man targeted a woman in a local supermarket with the confidence trick. The man, who has a large and distinctive belly, followed a lady out of the shop into the car park and then approached her telling her she had dropped a £20 note. When she opened her purse, he fumbled the note into her purse and when she later checked, her cash card and other valuables were missing.

Several hundred pounds were withdrawn from the lady’s account almost immediately, so police believe it is evident the man had looked over his victim’s shoulder in the shop while she was paying to get her PIN.

The CCTV shows an image of a man police would like to speak to regarding this incident.

If anyone recognises the man or has any information relating to this incident, please contact police on 101, quoting crime reference number CR/015287/17.
