MEMBERS of Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team Tavistock were busy on Sunday looking for a missing runner and helping with a casualty.

Members were about to undertake a foggy training serial at midday with a Merlin helicopter, flying from Lane End to Fur Tor but were instead called to assist police to search for a missing runner near Vixen Tor.

Members of the team deployed to search for her.

While searching, the runner found sanctuary at a local home, whose owner kindly dropped her back to her vehicle.

She remembered to notify the police who were then able to stand the search team down.

Only 40 minutes after the first callout, the team were called again to assist the ambulance service rescuing a casualty from the aqueduct below Black Tor, between Yelverton and Princetown.

The team deployed and treated her for an ankle injury before stretchering her off to the ambulance and HART team.
