ARSON attacks in Yelverton and a theft of more than £600 from a hairdressers feature in the Tavistock area crimes this week.

• POLICE are investigating arson attacks in Yelverton which they believe may be related.

The first involved a rolled up newspaper being lit and pushed through the front door of the pharmacy in Moorland Villas, Yelverton between Saturday, December 30 and Tuesday, January 2. The property was unoccupied at the time, CR000440/18.

The second was in the early hours of New Year’s Day. A lit newspaper was pushed into the post box beside Moorland Villas, incinerating the letters inside, CR000531/18.

Anyone with information on either attack is urged to contact the police via 101.

• THIEVES stole more than £600 from the till at a hairdressers in Yelverton after breaking into the premises overnight. They smashed a glass panel in the back door of The Cutting Company at about 1am on Friday, December 29. They were apparently disturbed during the theft and dropped further cash as they fled the scene, CR112534/17.

• HEATING fuel was siphoned from a fuel tank in the car park of a café in Tavistock Road in Princetown. The theft took place sometime between 4pm on Wednesday, December 27 and 10am on Friday, December 29. A total of £257 worth of fuel was stolen, CR112689/17.

• A SAT-NAV has been stolen from a car parked in Whitchurch Road, Tavistock between 5.30pm and 11pm on Friday, December 29. The thieves forced the lock on the driver’s door to steal the equipment worth £50, CR112762/17.

• AN antique shop on Plymouth Road Industrial Estate in Tavistock had a shipping container broken into between midnight on Friday, December 22 and 8.30am on Saturday, January 6. Nothing was stolen but the door to the container was damaged. CR/001619/18.

• A white VW Golf was damaged between 10pm on Saturday, January 6 and 3am on Sunday, January 7 while parked opposite 6 and 8 Plymouth Road, Tavistock. CR/002011/18.
