AN event which has been running annually for more than 50 years will today (Thursday) open its doors to the public. Tavistock Group of Artists (TGA) will open its 51st exhibition at the town hall for four days, until Sunday, June 25. The exhibition will show around 30 paintings in oil, pastel, watercolour, mixed media and many more. TGA was officially created in 1955, with seven painting members meeting in Tavistock College, then known as the grammar school. The first official exhibition was held in 1955 at the Tavistock District Council Chambers in Drake Road. In 1956 the exhibition was held in conjunction with various schools at Grenofen, followed by the second official exhibition in 1957. Since then the event has been held annually.
