THE Lifton Cottage Garden Society and WI 26th annual horticultural show was held in Lifton Church Hall on the first Thursday in August. Sixty-one exhibitors submitted 300 entries. Although entries in the horticultural classes were down on last year, due to the recent difficult weather, those that were on display were of a good standard, especially in the flower section. The handicraft classes attracted the greatest number of entries for many years. These, along with the children?s classes, floral art, cookery and photography classes gave plenty of interest the viewing public. A large crowd gathered in the evening for the presentation of the cups. The president, Anthony Phillips, introduced Mrs Sally Hill, who was presented with a corsage by Charlotte Kempster. Mrs Hill spoke of how much she had enjoyed viewing the exhibits and the importance of the show in village life. She then presented the cups.
