Whitchurch Wayfarers 1st XI v Woodland Fort
WHITCHURCH travelled to Manadon hoping to record a victory against a useful side.
With seven first choice players missing, it was never going to be easy. Skipper Darren Chappell won the toss and asked the Fort to bat first.
An early breakthrough by Lavis and some committed fielding gave the Wayfarers a good start. but a couple of good stands enabled Fort to post 235 all out, Richard Hall making his first team bowling debut, recording 4 wickets to his name.
After the interval, openers Mansfield and Credicott got the visitors off to a good start. All rounder Hall added 30 and Barriball 30. Skipper Chappell then strode to the crease.
The extra pace between the wickets was now evident. He posted 55 with a mixture of fours and very quick singles.
Unfortunately the challenge was too much and Whitchurch finished just 16 runs short, with 3 wickets remaining.
This week Roborough are the visitors to Whitchurch, 2pm start.
