ONE hundred and 30 men took part in the April Medal and Kennard Cup qualifier at Okehampton Golf Club on Saturday.

The weather deteriorated during the day resulting in demanding conditions towards the end. It was close in division 1 where the top three scores could only be separated by their last nine scores. However, it was division 2 where the best score of the day was found with a nett 64 for Alan Vernon.

Division 3: (30 players), 1, M Bennett, 87 (67); 2, M Cook, 89 (68); 3, F Scott-Lawson, 97 (70), last 9.

Dartmoor League - Okehampton had an excellent start to the Dartmoor League season, beating Downes Crediton by four points to one on Sunday at Okehampton.

Most of the matches were close, with three going to the last hole. M Cox and P Martin, halved; A Hawking and R Johnson, halved; M Hooper and P Rattenbury, won 2 and 1; P Murphy and J Parker, won 5 and 3; R Davies and N Heath, won 1 up.
