Crediton U14s 0 Okehampton U14s 81 OKEHAMPTON had too much power in the forwards for Crediton to handle. Okehampton backs, with slick passing and plenty of pace, ran in nine tries ? wing Carl Goodall scoring 5, centre Carl Poynton, fly-half Tom Browne, wing Dan Braime and full back Rory Honeychurch all touching down one each. The forward tries came from prop Stuart Bennie, wing forward Jake Chisholm and No 8 Rob Long touching down twice ? Rob being subbed at half time to ease Crediton?s pain. Conversions were kicked by Tom Browne 4, Tom McGratton 2 and Rory Honeychurch 2. Okehampton U13s 12 Crediton U13s 10 OKEHAMPTON started poorly with some lacklustre play in the first quarter. They were out-rucked, out-thought and totally out-played by a very fine Crediton team. For their efforts, Crediton were rewarded with two well taken tries inside ten minutes neither of which were however converted. For the remainder of the first half Okes struggled to exert some authority on the game. The Crediton backs certainly had the advantage over the home side; the forwards were however more evenly matched, at half time the score remained at 10 - 0 to the visitors. The second half saw the Okes change their game to a ten man forward battle. Although much of the game was played in the Crediton half, Okehampton were unable to breach the excellent Crediton defence. It was not until five minutes from time that the breakthrough came, when Darcy Heard picked up the ball at the base of a scrum, ran across the Crediton back line before scoring in the corner. The conversion was missed. The last five minutes saw Okehampton camped in Crediton?s twenty-two. As the game looked to be slipping away from Okehampton, the forwards had one last drive for the line, Kirby picked the ball up at the base of a ruck and dived over to level the scores. With the pressure on him, North stepped forward, kicked the conversion and won the match for Okehampton with the last kick of the game. Credit must go to both sides for a thoroughly entertaining game. This week away to Launceston. Crediton counter attacked superbly and excellent handling saw them score in the corner. Within minutes Crediton added a further try. This galvanised Okehampton into action and with the defence beginning to get turnover ball it was suddenly Crediton on the defensive.
