AN exhibition celebrating 100 years of wonderful history at Okehampton Golf Club is open throughout the weekend.
A collection of photographs, original minute books and club memorabilia is on show at the clubhouse until April 8. The exhibition documents the history of the club.
Opened 100 years ago, the original nine-hole golf course was laid out by John Henry 'JH' Taylor, the celebrated professional golfer and course architect born in Devon. The course was opened in July 1913 by Okehampton's greatest benefactor, Sydney Simmons. In 1921 it was extended to 18 holes.
The club is planning a series of special events throughout the year to commemorate the occasion, the centrepiece being the centenary festival week from July 13 to July 19.
The clubhouse will be open for the exhibition during club hours.?For more information call 01837 52113.
