MORE than 200 people were involved in a mass celebration of youth sport at the Caradon Youth Games competition held at Callington Community College.

All secondary schools in South East Cornwall were involved in the event which involved tennis, girls football, handball, fencing, table tennis, volleyball, rowing, rugby, dance and rounders.

Winning teams in girls' football year nine and ten were were Saltash, with Callington winning the year seven and eight competition.

Liskeard won the handball and Looe won the fencing competition for a second year running. The winners in the mixed year seven/eight table tennis competition went through to the Cornwall School Games and Torpoint took this crown.

Callington won the indoor rowing event which involved a team of eight, a boy and a girl from each year group seven to ten.

Callington dominated the tennis winning both the year nine/ten mixed doubles and the year seven/eight open gender doubles. In the rugby Liskeard won the under 13 event and Looe won the under 15 competition which takes them through to the Cornwall Games.

In mixed rounders Liskeard won the year seven/eight competition and Saltash won the year nine/ten event. In volleyball the winners in each category went through to the Cornwall Games and Liskeard won in girls year eight/nine, Torpoint won the boys year eight/nine and in mixed year ten/eleven Liskeard won. Medals were presented to all winning teams.
