CALSTOCK Cricket Club brought to a close its 2013 Chance to Shine project with an inter schools cricket festival between Calstock, Delaware and St Mellion with St Dominic schools.

Each of the schools played an eight a side, soft ball format with each batting pair facing three overs.

Some terrific scoring took place with some individual scores of more than 40 from Dylan Rundle of St Mellion and plus 50 from John Moon of Calstock.

All of the schools along with Gulworthy and Lamerton have taken part in a 12 week programme of after school or curricular cricket during the summer term.

More than 80 children a week have been taking part in the project delivered by coaches from Calstock Cricket Club, which has for the first time also included assembly visits.

The eventual winners were Calstock School A.
