THE Lambs produced another fine away performance coming from a 3-1 behind to take a deserved point from this entertaining game at Poltair Park.
The game started at a fast pace and it was the home team that took the lead in the sixth minute when Mike Body scored with a terrific strike from the edge of the penalty area, giving Andy Meed's in the visitors' goal any chance of stopping.
The Lambs levelled the scores two minutes later, when a Paul Quinn free kick found Dave Hallett who picked out the unmarked Sam Chitty in the area; Chitty turned and flashed the ball home from close range. Moments later the scorer had to leave the field and took no further part after picking up what looks like a serious knee injury.
Things got worse for the Lambs when the Lillywhites regained their lead in the 40th minute when a Chris Reski's corner kick, was headed home by the unmarked Lee Whetter.
The home side increased their lead in the 65th minute when, following good work by Will Tinsley, Body swept the ball home with everyone in the Lambs defence appealing for offside. This really stirred the Lambs into action and they took the game to the home team and put their defence under considerable pressure.
Five minutes later the visitors reduced the arrears when Lyle Johnson powered home a header from Aaron Northmores corner kick.
The Lambs were really on top at this stage and it was no surprise when in the 75th minute another fine corner from Northmore was only partially cleared by the home defence, the ball fell to Johnson who made no mistake from 14 yards out to level the scores.
The Lambs continued to press forward but for all their efforts they were unable to find the winner.
The team continued their impressive away form, which has been very good so far this season. They have conceded too many home points and this is the main reason that they no longer have a realistic chance of taking the league title.
The Lambs fielded a young team and the youngsters showed tremendous promise in this good all round team performance. Everyone played their part, with young Aaron Northmore having terrific game in midfield, and new player Lyle Johnson showing what a good signing he has been for the club. This win moves the Lambs up to fourth in the league table.
