THE Tribute Southwest Winter Foursomes got under way at Yelverton Golf Club on Sunday. The event, which is run over the winter months, attracts professional and amateur golfers form all over the Southwest.
The early starters had to contend with some heavy showers, but as the day progressed, so did the weather and though very windy, all of the matches were completed. There were a couple of high profile casualties, with previous winners Mark Blaber and Paul Hendy losing out on the 19th hole.
Yelverton`s head professional Tim McSherry won his match with partner Karl Eastwood 6 and 4 and past British Open qualifier Adam Frayne also made it through with his junior partner Megan Giles. Shot of the day was lady competitor Abby Moyes, who holed her 200 yards second shot on the par 4 second to win the hole and the match, on the 20th hole.
