PAST Yelverton Golf Club ladies' captain Diane Reardon chose Devon Air Ambulance Trust as her charity for the year 2014.

A cheque for £1,521.12 was presented personally at the club last month, by Diane to Tony Cannon, one of the charity's volunteers.

Earlier in her year, Diane had asked Tony to visit the golf club and make a presentation to the ladies regarding the work of the DAAT and their aims for the future.

Diane's reason for choosing the DAAT stemmed from her last job when she was working for the out of hours doctors' service at Derriford Hospital.

She would often see the air ambulance land and patients taken to the emergency department.

It was after seeing this vital role that the trust played in emergency life saving dashes to Derriford Hospital that she decided to help this organisation.

The money was raised by raffles, fun competitions and one lady golfer even donated her insurance money when she had a hole in one at one of the ladies' opens.
