CHAGFORD were indebted to father and son Del and Will Lammonby in restricting Ashburton to 166 for 9 in their allotted overs.
Ashburton batted slowly against the Chagford opening attack of Del Lammonby and Jon Wright and at one stage were 21 for three wickets with Kev Nicholls, Taylor Mclellan and Chris Pascoe back in the pavilion.
However, Tom Durman and Martin Causey stabilised the position and at the break had taken the score to 90 for 3.
The combination of the break and the introduction of Will Lammonby into the attack had the desired effect, as Will dismissed Causey (13) skipper Ashley Berry first ball for a duck, Tom Durman (49) and Dominic Durman (2) to leave Ashburton at 106 for 7.
Chris Rowlands picked up two cheap wickets with Ashburton on 126 for 9, but in a last wicket undefeated stand of 40 between Gordon Colwill 31 not out and Marcus West 16 not out, Ashburton were 166 for 9.
Del Lammonby 2 for 24, Will Lammonby 4 for 18 and Chris Rowlands 2 for 18 were the main wicket takers.
The only blemish in a workmanlike display by Chagford was the bowling of 39 extras — a fact that skipper Lammonby will need to address.
Chagford made short work of reaching their target as Stuart Lord and new boy James Fulner put on 52 for the first wicket, before Fulner went for 24, Lord followed after a half century with the score at 108 and with Divan Marais going out to make 71 not out reached their target in just 26 overs. For Ashburton Marcus West took 1 for 37 and Taylor McClellan 1–34.
Chagford 19 points Ashburton four points.
