HIGH tide on Friday evening saw an invasion of an armada of sailing dinghies at Weir Quay on the River Tamar.
The beautiful weather and the brightly coloured boats made a spectacular sight as they sailed up the River Tamar to land by the slipway.
Fifty five dinghies plus 13 support boats from Saltash, Tamar River and Cargreen Sailing Clubs joined forces with host boats from Weir Quay Sailing Club to make a spectacular evening for the scores of teenagers and adults, who participated.
All who attended said they thoroughly enjoyed the evening. Adult members of Weir Quay Sailing Club laid on a barbeque to feed the hungry sailors.
The event raised £379, which will be ploughed back into maintaining Weir Quay Sailing Club's fleet of dinghies which are used for regular training sessions. The club hopes that this fine weather will continue for their regatta next weekend.
