Devon seconds B Tavistock seconds v Plymouth Civil Service/Roborough seconds TAVISTOCK seconds, unbeaten since the middle of June, completed another emphatic victory at Roborough on Saturday. Roborough batted first and were slowly away thanks to tight bowling by Mark Hopkins and Callum Worth. Gaylord made 36 before first change bowler Andy Gauler trapped him lbw bringing in Rob Walker who batted superbly well for 80 not out. Other partners helped the team to a respectable 191-4 which was about a par score on a smallish ground. Marc Webber and Andy Gauler each took two wickets for Tavistock. In reply Josh Stephens and Chris Morgen set off sharply. However, both were out in quick succession bringing young 12-year-old James White and captain Marc Webber together for what turned into a magnificent 152 run partnership to easily win the game. Webber did most of the scoring hitting a superb 112 not out batting himself right back to form, while young White continues to make excellent progress, and increasing maturity to each innings he plays. This comfortable win means Tavistock seconds are now safely ensconced in the midtable.
