THE Whitchurch Cricket Club clubhouse was packed out for the Wayfarers annual presentation night last weekend. Handing out the awards was Nick Henderson, managing director of the club's sponsor, Mansbridge and Balment. The club have had a tough season but have battled hard in all competitions. The first XI escaped relegation on the last day of the season, while the second XI finished comfortably mid-table. The Evening League side struggled, but manage to record a couple of wins. The ladies' team also had a tough season following promotion last year but did manage to avoid relegation. Each of the colts teams showed signs of encouragement, with most teams being in the younger half of their age groups. All in all, things are looking promising for 2015. Awards were handed out for all of the teams, with the big prizes in the colts being awarded to Alex Bury (Beaver Cup) and Aidan Hall (Pedrick Cup). For the seniors Billy Barriball, Josh Towl and Hammy Kerswill won the trophies in the first XI, with Bob Powell, Dan Poole and Neil Tamblin taking the honours in the seconds. The clubman of the year was Graham Curson for his sterling work in all parts of the club, but especially for taking on the role of treasurer.
