Yelverton v Whimple

YELVERTON'S first XI got back to winning ways following their first loss of the season last week.

Visitors Whimple from East Devon, batted first but rain after four overs delayed play and the game was reduced ti 36 overs a side.

The Whimple batsmen found the going tough against some accurate Bohemians bowling, with only K Thompson making headway with 32. Wickets fell at regular intervals with the visitors never able to increase the scoring rate.  James Harrison (1-20), Iain Cunningham (1-23), skipper West (1-13) and Matt Tamsett (3-30) were all in the wickets as Whimple struggled to 106-6.

The visitors' score never looked like enough and with skipper West in belligerent form, the Bohemians raced to 62 off the first 10 overs before both West (44) and fellow opener Mark Symes (17) both perished with the score on 62.  

This temporary blip could not halt the Yelverton onslaught as Steve Luffman and Matt Tamsett chased down the required total, Luffman unbeaten on 34 and Tamsett 16 not out in an unbroken partnership of 50 for the third wicket, with the win secured with a six in the 22nd over.

The comprehensive eight wicket victory saw Yelverton retain their top of the table position, 19 points ahead of second placed Halberton and Sampford Peverell.
