TWO members of Tavistock Miniature Rifle Club have been been given special awards by the National Small Bore Rifle Association.
TMRC secretary Jeremy Gist presented Len Beer and Gordon Willcocks at The Tavistock MRC range after chairman Dave Hicks gave a brief resume of the services that they had performed for the club.
Len Beer became a member in 1954 and has always been active both on and off the range; his unstinting service as match secretary for many years involved hours of sorting, labelling, scoring, postings and record keeping, Len has also been very active for the club with his painting, decorating and building skills.
Gordon became a member of the club in 1938 and he too is still active on both sides of the sporting and administration divide. He has been the club treasurer for 42 years and his careful stewardship has always ensured that the finances are kept in good order.
Gordon runs light sporting rifle section every week and spent many hundreds of hours sorting and bundling newspapers as part of the local authorities paper recycling scheme.
