Hatherleigh secs v Tavistock seconds

IN need of a win, Tavistock seconds travelled to high flying Hatherleigh in the Devon second XI A division.

Returning Joe Trembath, with his natural variation, was soon in business with four wickets for Tavistock. As ever, Mark Hopkins was miserly and rewarded with a wicket and fit again Andy Kaitiff with a tight spell of 9-3-25-3, restricted Hatherleigh to 170 in their 45 overs.

A solid start was needed by the visitors and Marc Webber and Chris Monger did not disappoint. An opening stand of 69 with Monger 34 gave the platform to push for the victory.

The day belonged to Marc Webber who with 97 stroked the ball to all parts and in doing so, took the team to the brink of victory. John McGahey with 16 saw the team home.

This was a fine victory for Tavistock that has been coming after some decent recent performances.
