Teignmouth v Yelverton

YELVERTON's Sunday XI travelled to Teignmouth on Sunday to take on Shaldon in the league.

On a wet wicket, Yelverton's opening pair, 17 year old Rob Grove and 15 year-old Jay Warner, found even standing up difficult, but put on an opening partnership of 57 before Grove was dismissed caught and bowled for 21.

Rich West joined Warner and added 112 for the second wicket before Warner was bowled for a well played 68 with the score on 169.

West, who was dropped three times during his innings, punished any loose Shaldon bowling, and went to his century with his sixth six losing the match ball in the process.

West fell soon after for 102 after adding a further 46 with Sam Betts (10) for the fourth wicket.  The Bohemians went for quick runs in the final overs with Ben Pearson (10) and and Harry McEleny (10 n/o) all contributing and the final score was stretched to 240-8 off 40 overs.  J Tuffnell took 5-46 for Shaldon.

In reply, Shaldon lost early wickets and could make little headway against the Bohemians bowling as Tony Carter (3-5) and Iain Cunningham (2-2) knocked over the top order.

Rich West (3-2) and Chris Pearson (2-5) completed the coup de grâce as Shaldon were dismissed for 49 all out off 29.1 overs to leave the Bohemians winners by 191 runs.  Only R Doyle contributed much with his 27 for the home side.
