THE Tavispecials trustees were nominated for the county trustees award by the West Devon Community and Voluntary Services and were the winning entry from the West Devon area.

Allen Lewis, co-founder of the Tavi Specials who are a football club for players of various disabilities and learning difficulties, said: 'Constant support from the Tavistock community has really put the Specials on the map not only as a football club but more importantly a social group that has lots of fun off the pitch too.

'So many friendships have been made and there is a really good feeling about the group.'

Cathy Sharp, joint founder and trustee said: 'The Christmas party is always a hit! Tonight winning this award is the icing on the cake and its so lovely to see members of Tavistock Youth Cafe Plus joining in with the Tavi Specials and having a wonderful Christmas party. We would all like to thank Sally Perkins once again for her support and for hosting such a fabulous evening.'
