THE Lydford Darts Knockout final was held at the Clovelly Inn on Friday. The game is the same format as a league match, but without the team game, and the winner is the first to five .

The all conquering Village inn had beaten the Arundell Arms twice already this season, but anyone who thought that this was going to be a straightforward evening for them were in for a surprise.

The draw was made, and the game commenced.

Each of the six single matches were closely fought with some outstanding darts played by both sides. The Arundell Arms were determined to avenge the two league defeats, and after the singles the score was 3-3. The doubles were on next, with both teams knowing that two victories would get them the cup.

The first doubles went to the Village inn, with the Arundell coming back from the brink of defeat in the second, so the final was to be decided by the last game.

The Arundell Arms started well and won the first leg, and there was great tension around the oche as the second leg begun.. With both teams getting to the double, it was the Village Inn who hit it first...1-1 . The final leg was played, with vocal support for both sides, but the big game experience of the Village inn enabled them to gain a big advantage in the leg, and secured the cup with the final leg victory.

Congratulations to Pete Jennings and the team from the Village Inn on their victory.

Organisers thanked Totbin and Suzi and team at The Clovelly Inn on hosting the evening.
