SUNDAY saw the fourth edition of the Charles Stanley Westward League Cross Country fixtures and athletes made the long journey to Westward Ho!
As in previous years, numbers were generally down for this fixture but as always TRP were well represented with competitive teams in both the senior men’s and ladies’ events.
A bleak landscape with a blustery wind whipping in from the sea provided an extra challenge for the runners however the TRP athletes made light of the conditions first in the senior ladies’ race where Rachael Malthouse led home the trio supported by Jennie Sabine and Emma Dooney for another excellent showing. Later in the day Jim Cole and Ben Neale figured strongly at the sharp end of the race supported by a resurgent Chris Rimmer and good showings from Brett Bassett and Lewis Mill.
Club spokesman Dave Chanter said: ‘It has been an exciting first season for the club who have emerged as a power on the local running scene.’
