YELVERTON Golf Club veterans held the Neil Pierce Memorial Trophy on Wednesday, November 5 — the first time the trophy had been played for. The trophy was donated by the family in memory of Neil Pierce, a much loved and respected president of the Yelverton Golf Club Veterans' Section who died in September this year.

The trophy was competed for by 60 players — the largest turn-out in recent memory. The cup was presented by Neil's son Mark along with £100 worthy of vouchers to the top three golfers. The trophy will now be competed for annually on a date nearest to the anniversary of Neil's death.
