TAMAR and Tavy Gig Club juniors won at Salcombe on Small’s Cove on a perfect summer’s day recently. The weather was perfect with a little cloud cover sunshine and a little wind.

The event was held for local gig rowing juniors and all rowers raced at least twice and all had fun. The event commemorated James Fortescue and medals were sponsored by his wife Ros.

James was an inspirational man rising to many challenges. He rowed from the age of 14 years at Henley and in retirement took up gig rowing winning the Tamar and Tavy Challenge Super Vets Trophy in his 70s and finally his ashes were scattered by Salcombe Gig Club.
