TRISH Deykin from Milton Combe earned a top five place at the Bideford Sprint Triathlon on Sunday.

Trish, who suffers from multiple sclerosis, told Times Sport: ‘The 500-metre swim was lovely with the tide helping me to go faster in the estuary followed by an incredibly hilly 23K bike course and a flat out and back 5K run on the Tarka Trail.

‘Although it had rained and the roads were slippery there was a good turnout and the sun came out for the race.  I managed to be the first female in the field and fifth overall out of 185.

‘I was really pleased with my result, especially as I was the oldest person in the top five finishing in a time of 1 hour 14 minutes 36 seconds.’

Trish added her thanks to Mount Kelly Swim Centre for all their support this season.
