AT the recent long distance Triathlon World Age Group Championships held in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Basque Spain, Nicky Deane-Simmons, came home to West Devon with a silver medal.

She completed the four kilometre swim, 120 kilometre bike and 30k run in 8 hours 44 minutes and narrowly missed the gold medal by a minute. Despite missing gold by such a narrow margin she was delighted with the result having achieved her fastest possible race.

Nicky is president of the newly formed Tor and Tavy Women's Institute..
