AS local runners get in their training for the Tavy 7 road race on October 27, Tavistock Athletic Club is preparing to get everything organised in the field it has been used for the past two years at the Horrabridge end of Plasterdown.

The route for the race goes across Plasterdown to Warren's Cross, turns right and goes past Pew Tor and up through Sampford Spiney, and then down to Huckworthy Cross, before turning right and returning to Warren's Cross and the start.

Residents on or near the route are asked to look out for runners between noon and 1.30pm if they use the roads, which will not be closed. They can look on the website http://www.tavy7.com">www.tavy7.com to check out the route and see if they will be affected by the race. There are alternative routes for some residents avoiding the route altogether.

Participants are asked to reach the start via Down Road Tavistock, and not use the roads from Horrabridge and Walkhampton if coming from Plymouth.

Runners are asked to enter as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. Entry on the day will probably be possible, but the fee will increase by £2 to £14 for affiliated runners and £16 for non-affiliated. An entry form and full details are on the race website http://www.tavy7.com">www.tavy7.com and forms are also available from Gibbs Kirby, Active Co. Bodyzone and the College Sports Centre.

The club is grateful to estate agents Gibbs Kirby for sponsoring the main race and Abbey Garden Machinery for its support.
