Trelawney two
Oke ladies’ thirds 5
Truro ladies’ seconds 0
IN the first quarter Oke had the majority of the play but the solid Truro defence guarded their net, resolutely preventing an Oke goal.
The deadlock was broken when Larissa Goodger, finding her feet in her new position of left wing half, cracked the ball from just inside the Truro circle straight past the defence and into the goal.
This goal gave Oke the confidence they needed and it was not long before attacker Maddie Arden shot at goal from a narrow angle on the right of the circle; the ball was deflected off a Truro player straight into the goal.
At the beginning of the second half Oke again had the majority of the possession but the disciplined Truro players and well drilled goalkeeper kept them at bay. Central midfielder Molly Marvin increased Oke’s lead when she pounced on a rebound from the goalie’s pads to find the back of the net.
Georgie Stanistead, in her first game back after injury, was rewarded for her persistent runs and interceptions with a finely taken goal to increase the Oke lead to 4-0.
Truro tried at every opportunity to turn their defensive game into attack but central defender Lois Rowlands had her players well drilled and they were quick to tackle and gain possession.
Oke’s final goal came when left back Melissa Pinfield won the ball deep in the Oke half and made a precision pass to Larissa Goodger – Goodger used her speed to cover three quarters of the pitch before sending a hard cross into the Truro circle, where forward Louise Watts was perfectly placed to hammer the ball into the back of the net.
Oke’s player of the Match was Elsa Frangleton.
