OKEHAMPTON men`s B tennis team travelled to Willand for their last game of the season knowing they needed seven points to win division five of the Exeter and district League.

John and Stuart Jarvis got them off to a flying start with a 6-0, 6-1 win. However, the experienced first pair from Willand took the first set against Paul Love and Jack Hatton by 7-5.

The Okehampton pair won the second set 6-1 but went down by 10 points to 7 in a nervous championship tie-break.

Jack and Paul set up an exciting finish by defeating the opposition second pairing 6-1, 6-4 ,meaning the Jarvis partnership needed two sets to win the league.

John and Stuart played solid and impressive tennis to win 6-2, 6-2 and secured the league title.

Stuart Jarvis, John Jarvis and Paul Love were the backbone of the team but the title would not have been achieved without important contributions from Sam Whalley, Adam Richards, Jack Hatton. David Carter, Dave Atallah, Chris Searle and Steve Parsons.
