BOTTOM of the table Tavy Conservative A showed they were down but not out with a bit of the old 'Dunkirk Spirit' as they travelled to West Devon C and came away with a shock 4–1 win in the Tavistock Snooker League.
The bridgehead was secured with solid wins from Bassett over the dangerous Hodge and Neale over Shrimpton, with the 'breakout' completed by a first win of the season from Gliddon as he roasted Elliott.
Grigg pulled one back for West Devon C as he overcame a combative performance from Con C's Jago. Hoare completed the Con's unlikely four-frame haul as he out-jousted Williams to give his team something to smile about for once during the season.
Conservative A, already crowned champions, completed the formalities of the season with their last game against Conservative Z yielding no major scares.
Having said that, Carruthers had to dig a bit deeper than normal to bounce back from Dodd who snuck in with a nice 21 break, Carruthers had to respond with a 28 to help him take the frame.
The next three frames, however, produced no scares for Con A as Cook, Evans and Longden faced little resistance to put their team four up.
The final frame went the way of the Z team after some scrappy snooker it was McKechnie who produced the shot of the night as his speciality a 'full table treble' reaped the rewards for him in a black ball finish over Bell.
