TAVISTOCK U11s went to Cullompton to face 19 Devon rugby clubs from the same age group at the year end festival.

They conceded two quick tries to Newton Abbot but defended well in the second half.

It was a game of two halves against Kingsbridge, who were the eventual outright winners of the festival. Some fine moves by their backs scored three tries in the first half but Tavistock were wise to this in the second half and shut the door to them with some great tackles from Lachlan, Joe and Olly. This started to give the team momentum.

Tavistock moved into the shield competition and made their way smoothly to the final against Exeter Saracens. In a close final they played some superb rugby. A great kick from Jack put Tavistock up to the Exeter line but they just failed to get over the try line.

Another terrific rip and steal by Archie T saw him charge down the length of the field only to be tackled before the try line.

This was a close game but it was Tavistock who came home with the shield trophy for 2012. The team now look forward to their 'surf and turf' tour in Cornwall in two weeks and also welcomes anyone who wants to join at the start of next season in September.
