EIGHT Tavistock Run Project athletes made the trip to the Midlands to take part in the prestigious Telford 10k and were rewarded with fast times and personal bests.

In a high quality race on what is renowned as a fast course Jim Cole led home the team in a time of 31 minutes 26 seconds to consolidate his recent good form. He was followed home by Jordan Andrews, Ben Neale and Jordan Channon. Sam Hortop was next to cross the line recording a new pb, closely followed by Crispin Chambers who figured highly in the veteran 55 category with a sub 40 minute time.

In the ladies’ race Rachael Malthouse ran another solid race indicating a breakthrough performance on the horizon, while Emma Dooney ran superbly to demolish her pb by more than a minute.

This was another excellent showing from TRP during the winter months.

Following a successful performance at last week’s Devon Cross Country Championship where Tavistock Run Project athletes collected a number of individual and team medals, the club celebrated its first anniversary with its annual dinner at the Elephant’s Nest in Peter Tavy.

Athletes, friends and family reflected on their success and looked forward to taking the club to new heights in the year ahead. However, pre and post celebration a number of runners took the opportunity to compete and support some local races. On Saturday morning Dan Pearce braved the conditions to clock a time in the low 19 minutes at the Tavy 5.

Meanwhile out at the Tamar Trails, Rachael Malthouse ran a solid race in the weekly Parkrun.

As an antidote to the previous night’s revelries Chris Malthouse ran the Plym Valley half marathon in a time of 1 hour 48 mins.
