THE Teign Valley Toddle took place with Stuart Ross the sole representative of Tavistock Athletic Club.
Stuart is one of the club's newer members and has seen his fitness increase dramatically over recent months. He ran a strong race on the undulating ten and a quarter mile route to finish in 24th place, in the top third of the field, in a time of 1hour 18 minutes 38 seconds.
A few days later saw this year's first running of the Armada Athletics winter 3 kilometre series. This is a six race series held monthly throughout the winter on a traffic-free course in Central Park, Plymouth.
Allan Herdman and his 12 year old twins, Harry and Francesca, competed and all gained superb times. Allan was the first of the three to cross the finishing line in a quick 12 minutes 23 seconds but Harry was only seconds behind, finishing in 12.40 and Francesca less than three minutes from both in 15.13 – a fine result from these two promising TAC juniors.
Ten TACs travelled to Cardiff to compete in the half marathon. Conditions were ideal for the 13,500 runners on this flat and fast course which included many of the city's iconic landmarks.
Jo Meek excelled, crossing the finish line in a diamond award time of just 1hr 18mins 44secs and finishing second in her age group and in 77th place overall – a superb achievement.
Next TAC home was Megan Harfoot in a fast 1.38.14, a silver award time for her age and an excellent result. Hot on Megan's heels was Pete Bazley in a gold time of 1.39.59, with Graham De Val only seconds behind in a silver award time of 1.40.37. Eunice Moule (1.50.34) also gained a silver award, while Caron De Val (2.08.41) and Jon Meek (1.40.58) won bronze. Robert Moule finished in 1.55.35, Gary Chater in 2.06.43 and Elizabeth Vernon in 2.22.38.
