NORTH west Plymouth running club, Plymouth Musketeers organised their annual race ‘Muskie Madness’ on Saturday evening.

This year the course had been extended from its usual 5.5miles to 10km (6.2miles). The extra distance was made up with additional footpaths in Ham woods and extra hills too. Added to the extra toughness of the course the 250 entrants were faced with sweltering heat – around 27 degrees.

Tavistock Athletic Club had 14 runners taking part and having fun. It was Martin Exley-Deane who led the club runners home in 12th place overall, also collecting first place in his age category. Debutant for the club Nikki Kelly had a great run, finishing in 24th overall and fifth lady. Evergreen Pete Bazley was second in the vet 60 category and Tony Shearer also picked up second place in the vet 65 category.
