Eleven members of Tavistock Athletic Club competed in the tough 'three down, three up' road race that was the Bere Pen 10k last weekend.

Local runner Adam Holland won the event, setting a new course record, in a very fast 36minutes, 33seconds. David Twine was first male TAC home and Amy Kiteley first female. New runner Graham De Val ran an excellent race, whilst Adrian Pitcher and Helen Alcock both knocked minutes off their 2011 times. Sheila Houghton won her FV60 age group, and Sarah Aspen made a strong return to racing.

TAC times were as follows: Helen Alcock 59.55, Sarah Aspen 65.46, Lesley Cowie 61.59, Caron De Val 63.31, Graham De Val 50.18, Sheila Houghton 57.02, Andy Houghton 51.44, Amy Kiteley 49.39, Adrian Pitcher 55.14, David Twine 46.07, John Windermer 59.27.

On the same day, four TACs competed in the Honiton Hippo 7.5mile multi-terrain race.

Harrison Baker was first club member to finish, in eighth position overall, in 56.05.

Very close on his heels was James Best finishing 10th in 56.33. Richard Best finished 38th in 1.06.41, with David Rickwood, 43rd in 1.08.22.
