MORE than 55 runners undertook the challenge of completing the inaugural Cotswold Way Century — a 102 mile non-stop trail race from Chipping Campden to Bath last month.

The race, organized by Cotswold Running, is the first competitive single-stage event of its kind on this exceptional trail.  Starting at 12.30pm on Saturday, the runners enjoyed the warm weather of an Indian Summer as they left Chipping Campden for a test of mind and body amongst the relentless Cotswold Hills.

Sarah Burns-Morwood of Yelverton finished joint fourth overall to win the women's race in 21 minutes 51 seconds, setting a new fastest-known time for a woman on the Cotswold Way.
