Clyst St George

THE fragile Chagford batting made a slow start with Paul Penberthy, David Penberthy  and Divan Marais all back in the pavilion with just  46 on the board.

Jon Wright made a quick 32  but with only Pete Holland (14). Will Lammonby (13) and Nigel Letheren (16) making double figures Chagford were all out for 121 in the 37th over.

The wickets were shared by the Clyst bowlers, Mike Johnson 2-33, Chris Ferro 2-25, Steve Bourke 2-29 and the ever reliable Chris Cook with 3-18.

Clyst St George made an even worse start, as both Ferro and Bourke were out for ducks with the score at four.

Sam Cooper followed for 12 with the score at 14 and then wickets fell at regular intervals with only Chris Cook, 17, and skipper John Meredith in a defiant 12 reaching double figures.

Clyst, who remain bottom of the league, were all out for 91 to give Chagford a victory by 30 runs.

The Chagford fielding was outstanding with Marias, Will Lammonby, Pete Holland, and wicketkeeper David Penberthy all making excellent catches.

Skipper Lammonby 3-25, Nigel Letheren 3-23 and Steve Sizmur with in an opening spell of nine economical overs taking 2-7.

Chagford remain in  third place in the league.
