Duchy division three
Delabole 2
Stoke Climsland 4
VETERAN Ian Cook came off the bench to score one goal and set up another as Stoke Climsland came from behind to beat Delabole 4-2 in an enthralling encounter.
Stoke bossed the first half and went in at the break 1-0 up courtesy of a superb half volley from captain Tom Savage that found the top corner from 20 yards out. However, the away side did not carry their decent first half performance into the second half and soon found themselves 2-1 down.
First Tom Harris drew Delabole level with a fierce right footed shot from the right hand side of the penalty box that snuck inside goalkeeper Dom Gerry's near post and then shortly after the home side went in front thanks to an own goal from Stoke centre back Mike Baker who inexplicably back heeled the ball into his own net after a melee in the penalty box.
Player manager Ian Cook brought himself on for Dan Jones with half an hour left and he made an immediate impact heading in at the back post to draw Stoke level. Cook then turned provider as he crossed from the left wing for Rob Bennett to smash home a cracking volley from close range to give his side the lead.
Stoke's full back Darren Wicket and Barry Cleveland had outstanding games.
The home side almost drew level with a spectacular long range effort that rattled the Stoke crossbar. However the points were made safe moments later when Tom Cleveland crossed for Josh Searle who nipped in ahead of the goalkeeper at the near post to meet a low cross from the left wing with the outside of his right foot to score.
n Stoke now go top of the League and play second place St Minver at home on saturday.
