A BEAUTIFUL sunny day on Palm Sunday greeted the runners who gathered for the first Peter Tavy Trailblazer organised by Tavistock Run Project.
The run started and finished at the village cross in Peter Tavy, climbing to the ancient Langstone on Peter Tavy Great Common — a distance of five and a quarter miles, on moorland track and footpaths.
Oliver Smart broke away on the technical ascent and stormed home to record a great victory, followed by Edward Anderson-Bickley and Oliver’s brother Edward.
The ladies’ field was won by the ever consistent Jane Allison. Age group winners were Ian Trice and Michael Holland in the male categories. In the female categories Laura Langsford and Janet Morgan took the honours.
The event proved to be very popular with runners enjoying the very challenging course and the organisers look forward to seeing participants return on August Bank Holiday Monday for the annual Peter Tavy Plod.
