TAVISTOCK Hockey Club last week staged its second hockey camp, following the success of the inaugural Easter camp. Hosted again at the Mount Kelly School Astro pitch, the club offered three days of fun hockey and technical coaching. With a great turnout on some very hot days, the camp was organised by club coach Simon Fenwick and run by former South African international hockey player, Justin King, ably assisted by a collection of the club's own coaches over the three days. The camp was a massive success for the club and a real boost for the young aspiring hockey players within the community. Utilising Justin's international and coaching expertise, the club also arranged a senior coaching session for club coaches from around Devon. It was the first session of this type organised by THC and can only help support the level of coaching within the region. Club chairman Phil Honey said: 'This really is another stepping stone in the development of hockey in Tavistock. 'With the blossoming partnership with Mount Kelly and the growing success of the club on the pitch, the future does look encouraging. 'What is really beneficial to us as a club is the continued and growing numbers of junior players coming through from a range of schools in the area and being involved and obviously enjoying these sporting camps.' Club coach Simon Fenwick added: 'It's great to see so many youngsters playing hockey and to see the club actively engaging with so many local  primary and secondary schools.' The club will be running its 2015 Easter Camp on April 7, 8 and 9.
