SUE Walker, a member of Okehampton Running Club struck gold when she represented Great Britain at the European Sprint Duathlon Championships in The Netherlands.
At the event, which was held on April 21. Sue was delighted when she won the gold medal in her age group.
ORC Sue ran five kilometres before taking to a bicycle for a 20 kilometre technical ride followed by a final 2.8 kilometre run - a feat she completed in a total time of 1 hour 9 minutes 52 seconds.
Olympic rowing gold medallist James Cracknell was also there as a GBR age-grouper.
Sue said: 'I had a nice chat with him prior to the race but sadly he didn't win a medal himself — I think he has a pretty good medal haul already though, don't you?'
Sue is hoping to attend the World Duathlon Championships in Ottawa, August 2013, for which she has qualified but needs to try and raise sufficient funds.
