SIX members from Tavistock Athletic Club took part in the Bideford Half Marathon — joining the Tarka Trail for the return.

Once again, Rebecca Mingo excelled, running a personal best and finishing second in her senior female age group in 1hour, 30minutes, 13seconds. Pete Bazley finished ninth in his M55 group in 1.35.55. Amy Kiteley, in her first race with the club ran strongly to gain a PB and finish in 1.50.07. An injured Jeff Lea limped home in 1.56.31, with Liz Vernon and Lesley Cowie not far behind in 1.59.18 and 2.12.32 respectively.

On the same day, Ray Bennett competed in the Duchy Marathon outside Redruth. Ray has had some long time away from racing due to injury, but made a decisive return, finishing second in his male 70-74 age group in 4.13.36.

Three TACs competed in the Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service Half Marathon, a tough multi-terrain race through the grounds of the National Trusts' Lanydrock House, near Bodmin. Hannah Colston was running as part of her training for the forthcoming 'Grizzly' and was first club member to the finish, in 2.04.00. Liz Vernon and Lindsay Hobbs finished in 2.07.50 and 2.20.02 respectively.
