SIXTEEN runners from Tavistock Athletic Club went to Aldon Hill estate near Yeovil on Sunday for the South West Cross country championships.
The venue was used last year for the first time and proved to be a tough course – but the dry spell this year had meant there was little mud, just fast parkland and tough hills.
The races are mainly a contest between counties and used as part of the selection process for the National Inter-Counties race, held in Loughborough in March.
All the Tavistock Athletic Club athletes performed well and will have enhanced their chances of places in the Inter-Counties teams. Results as follows:
Senior men – 26th Adam Holland; 64th William Dax (Devon team silver).
Under 17 men– 11th Brad Stevens (Cornwall team silver).
U15 boys – 25th Joe Dix; 26th William Russell (Devon team silver)’
Under 13 boys – 15th Ewan Dix; 37th William White; 54th James Crossey (Devon team gold).
Senior women – 17th Heather Fell (Devon team gold, individual silver, veteran 35).
U17 women – 18th Tilly McDowell (Cornwall team bronze).
U15 girls – 19th Amelia Riggott; 29th Krystina Cade (Devon team fourth).
U13 girls - 17th Charlotte Walker, 33rd Hannah Walker, 47th Matilda Riggott (Devon team silver).
Florence Riggott took part in the U11’s development race finishing in a creditable 19th place.
